To my younger self
You feel lost, you feel scared - of what the future holds. You don't understand why the world is so unfair - some other girls in class are so smart, so pretty, so confident, so popular - everything that you are not. You don't even like your own name or that little mole on your leg. You think all the names they call you in school - pig nose, octopus mouth - will stay with you for life and no one can see beyond those things for who you really are. You can't imagine there will ever be a boy who will love you back (all your crushes can't seem to even see you right now). Everything is magnified. What am I meant to do in this world? You ask yourself this everyday and sometimes you are so consumed with all these negative feelings that you don't realize how lucky you actually are - you have a roof above your head, a loving family, great friends - not many but enough. You might not be a pretty girl in societal standards, but beauty is so much more than that. Everything is going to be okay, as hard as it is to believe right now. You will experience life in ways that you would never have imagined, achieve goals that you never would have dreamt of. You will fall in love, meet people who love you back, you will feel so much happiness as if your heart's about to burst. You will get to travel and realize this world is so much bigger than the little bubble you are currently living in - your teenage problems are not the end of the world. There will be struggles, ups and downs - as how life should be. But most importantly you will learn to love yourself, be confident in your own skin, work hard, find your passion (which might not happen until you are in your mid-twenties, but that's okay. Be patient and trust yourself) and slowly you will find your place in this world.
